Stay Stoked - North Shore Oahu, Hawai’i

During the winter months, these big waves can be admired on Oahu’s North Shore. At this time of year, storms in the North Pacific send their waves in the direction of the Hawai'ian Islands. In the the summer months, bigger waves reach the island’s southern shore. The two-time champion of the World Surf League (WSL) @john_john_florence can be seen riding the first wave of this video (which I filmed during the Pipeline Masters Surf Competition). The spot where these incredibly beautiful waves form is appropriately called “Pipeline”. 

With this short video, I want to show the special atmosphere on the North Shore and give one a feeling for why people who live in Hawai'i speak of the ocean with such enthusiasm and humility.

Stay Stoked - Nordküste Oahu, Hawai'i

In den Wintermonaten können an Oahus Nordküste diese großen Wellen bewundert werden. Zu dieser Jahreszeit senden Stürme im Nordpazifik ihre Wellen in Richtung der Hawai’ianischen Inseln. In den Sommermonaten erreichen größere Wellen die Inseln eher an der Südküste. Den Surfer auf der ersten Welle, den zweimaligen Sieger der World Surf League (WSL) @john_john_florence habe ich bei den Pipeline Masters 2022 aufgenommen. Der Spot, an dem sich diese wunderschöne Welle formt heißt ihrer Erscheinung und Gefährlichkeit entsprechend „Pipeline“.

Mit diesem kurzen Video will ich die besondere Stimmung vom North Shore und ein Gefühl dafür vermitteln, warum man in Hawai'i mit größter Begeisterung und Demut über den Ozean spricht.
